Public market data, no bank logins
Hearth never asks for your bank password. Finnhub supplies quotes, RentCast supplies property valuations when enabled, and FRED supplies reference rates. These are public market data services. Lookups send a ticker, property address or series code, not your email or account balances.
You enter your financial records
You supply balances, transactions, mortgages and income. Hearth uses those records with market data to show your household’s financial picture. It does not connect to your bank to retrieve balances or transactions.
Household access is enforced in the database
Records are stored in Supabase Postgres. Row-level security restricts household data access in the app to that household’s members. Server-side services process records to keep market values current. This is access control, not end-to-end encryption.
Email login and managed hosting
Supabase Auth handles email-and-password login. Private beta registration requires an invite code; household owners can also invite members by email. Vercel hosts the application and website, while Supabase provides authentication, database storage and server-side data updates.
